Spring reminds us that life flourishes when it is nurtured and supported. At Casita Copán, we believe that the best way to transform a child’s life begins with their family. That’s why our mission focuses on accompanying women and mothers who face difficult circumstances—because we know that when a mother feels supported, her children’s future is filled with hope.
Our vision says it clearly: we break the cycle of abandonment by supporting vulnerable women. And our experience confirms it: the stronger a mother feels, the brighter the present and future of her children. A child should not be separated from their family due to lack of resources; instead, with the right support, even in the midst of challenges, life opens up to new opportunities.
The women who come to Casita Copán have faced multiple abandonments—by partners, by families, by the State. But here, they are not alone. Here they find a safe space, a team that listens and accompanies them, and a community that believes in them. We invite everyone to join this effort, so we can reach more women and more children who need support and hope.
Our program coordinator, psychologist Sindy Murcia, describes it beautifully:
“Leading the Single Mothers Program has been a deeply enriching and learning experience. Getting to know each mother in her personal and economic reality, accompanying them in their relationships with their children, and observing the growth they have achieved within the program is truly extraordinary.
I feel very fortunate to be able to serve them, guide them, and motivate them to keep moving forward, especially in the difficult moments when, as single mothers, they may feel alone. This accompaniment has taught me that, although circumstances are not always easy, the support we provide at Casita Copán and the strength they themselves demonstrate make possible a path of hope and shared resilience.”
