In April, we had the pleasure of welcoming our friends from TPC back to Casita Copán for their yearly mission trip and medical/dental brigade. Their unstoppable commitment to our community, Copán Ruinas, and our organization has made a remarkable impact. This year, 4 of the volunteers came back for a second visit — a more intimate, more meaningful one. We want to share some of the insights they gained during their stay.
The Joy of Children’s Eyes
One of the most profound moments of their trip was witnessing the happiness and peace reflected in the children’s eyes. “There’s something truly special about seeing kids thrive in an environment filled with love and support” they shared. At Casita, we strive to create a nurturing space, and the TPC team felt this vibrancy firsthand. Their smiles were contagious, and it reaffirmed our mission to provide a safe haven for the children in our community. For our monthly sponsors—Scott, Allison, Annie, and Patty—this experience was especially meaningful. They had the unique opportunity to see firsthand how their donations translate into tangible support, from nutritious meals to engaging educational activities. Watching the joy of the children, they could truly appreciate the impact of their generosity, knowing that their contributions help create a brighter future for these young lives.
A Grateful Space for Reflection
We’re particularly grateful for the office space we now occupy, a testament to TPC’s contributions. It’s located in the part of the building that was made possible through the hard work of Darrin Ferguson, Rich Messimer, Jose Medrano, Roran Ferguson, and Jack McLaughlin. This space allows us to reflect, plan, and write, serving as a daily reminder of the support we receive from friends who believe in our mission.
A Day at the Public School
Annie and Allison had the joy of visiting the local public school on the last day of our educational support program. Throughout the year, our educational support program has focused on teaching the children essential skills in reading and writing, and this was evident in the glowing pride reflected in their work. The excitement was palpable and we shared a delicious snack with them to celebrate the end of a successful year!
A Tapestry of Partnerships
The synergy between TPC and Casita is just one thread in the larger tapestry of our community. During their visit, they observed how various partnerships contribute to the well-being of Copan Ruinas. Meetings with local leaders, including the mayor and health department representatives, emphasizes how collaboration and support can drive progress.
