A Note from our Founder

Things move fast at Casita Copán. Sometimes you have to pause to reflect, otherwise you start to take things for granted. And this year does not deserve to be taken for granted.

Because of people like you, our little children’s home not only grew this year, but thrived. We welcomed new children into our center, counseled and supported families through difficult times, encouraged our moms to stick with their studies (they are all reading now!), watched as one of our older girls graduated 6th grade with honors, moved into an bigger, better space, and even received a donation of a playground! And most importantly, we welcomed 13 children into the Casita family who had been living for years in terrible conditions. Watching these amazing kids grow and thrive in their new home has been nothing short of a dream come true.

People often ask me who is funding Casita Copán, assuming there is a single organization out there making our work happen. When I tell them that it’s a labor of love by people all around the world donating what they can, they are shocked. I don’t blame them. When I first started fundraising to start Casita Copán, I was taken aback by how many truly generous people reached out to support the children of Copán. Now I know that when regular people come together because they believe in a mission, amazing things happen.

And this year is a testament to the power of individual people who believe that we can make the world a better place. That every little bit helps. And that dreams really can come true.

Thank you for being with us in 2014. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the new year, and we hope you’ll stay with us for the ride.

Con mucho amor,
