As you may have heard, Casita Copan is moving on up to a bigger home! Our kids are already counting down the days until the big move – scheduled for the end of the month. Kids, staff, and moms have been busy cleaning, raking leaves, fixing the electricity, sanding the walls, and planning color schemes for our new home. There’s still a LOT of work to be done but thanks to everyone’s excitement, I don’t doubt that we’ll get it together by the end of the month (at least the most important things anyway).
We’ve started a fundraising campaign to help with the repairs for the new location. Please visit the fundraising page here to learn more.
When we started in 2012, we only served 8 children. Now in 2014, we serve 35 kids in our children’s center and 14 mothers in our women’s programs. As you can imagine, we’ve grown out of our home and it’s time for a bigger, better space.
We’ve found an amazing location with more rooms for classes and programs, office space, a separate sleeping area for children in cases of abandonment, a HUGE yard for the kids to play, and an extensive area where we can plant food and even raise chickens or other animals. This new location is perfect for our growing organization as it gives us the opportunity to provide better services, expand the programs we offer to more families, and increase our sustainability (we can now grow some of our own food!).
We are reaching out to our trusty supporters to help us with the transition into our new home. Before we move in, we need to “child-proof” the new space and make some repairs and improvements so that it can meet the needs of our moms and kids. Here is where we need your help.
Our hope is to fundraise the costs of this transition so we can continue to focus on providing essential services such as food, education, medicine, emotional support, counseling, loving care, and more to the 35 children and 14 mothers of Casita Copán.
